Dolphin House Awarded Active Practice Status
Dolphin House is proud to announce that we have officially been awarded Active Practice status, a mark of distinction that recognises our commitment to encouraging physical activity and wellbeing in staff and patients.
Driven by the hard work of Dr Appiah, staff have been working hard over the past 6 months to improve their physical and mental fitness. Activities undertaken include regular exercise sessions, lunchtime walks, an increase in standing desks and regular mindfulness sessions.
Our social prescribing team have undertaken qualifications to bring this initiative to the community, enabling the delivery of seated exercise sessions at home, helping our housebound and elderly patients become more active, improving quality of life.
Dolphin House is also recognised as a Parkrun Practice with close ties to the local Parkrun event at Westmill every Saturday morning. This is a free 5km community run…. (or walk!) open to all and staff have enjoyed taking part alongside patients in the beautiful Ware countryside.
Whatever your age, there’s strong scientific evidence that being physically active can help you lead a healthier and happier life and we would be delighted to see as many patients as possible joining us to improve their physical health.
The Moving More campaign is a great place to start and you can use Hertfordshire’s Activity Finder to see what’s available locally (Get Active – Activity Finder – Find activities in your local area.).
